The cause of the blast is being investigated. The explosion took place at about 9:30 am during a prayer meeting of Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses in Kalmassery. Teams of counter terror youth and National Security Guards (NSG) have been dispatched to the blast site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Videos on local TV channels show police and fire rescue personnel in large numbers evacuating people from the site. Many persons were seen outside the convention centres after the explosion. According to Kerala industries minister P Rajeev the blast site is cordoned off and fire rescue and police have been pressed into action. Kerala Health Minister Veena George has asked all healthcare professionals to report for duty after the incident. Congress MP Shahi Tharoor has expressed shock and dismay over the incident. The Thiruvanthpuram MP condemed the incident and said it is tragic to see Kerala falling prey to the mentality of destruction and killing. Vijayan said it is an unfortunate incident. He said they are collecting information regarding the incident. All the top officials have reached Ernakulam. He said the state government is taking the incident very seriously. The Kerala CM added he had spoken to the DGP.
