After failing to fully recover from his ankle injury, Hardik Pandya will miss the remainder of India’s World Cup 2023 campaign. The all-rounder suffered an injury last month at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune while playing for India against Najmul Hossain Shanto’s Bangladesh.

The 30-year-old Hardik twisted his ankle halfway through his opening over and went down. After receiving treatment, he later stood up while having his leg tightly tied. Virat Kohli bowled the final three balls of the over when he was unable to continue bowling.

Mohammed Shami was added to India’s playing XI following Hardik’s injury, and in just three games, the latter has taken 14 wickets at an economy rate of 4.27. He also claimed five wickets in victories over Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
