With the Mizoram Legislative Assembly election underway in all 40 seats in the state, the incumbent Chief Minister Zoramthanga\u2019s Mizo National Front (MNF) is looking to retain its authority. Speaking to the media, CM Zoramthanga said that his party MNF, if voted to power again will take steps to rehabilitate refugees from Myanmar and Bangladesh along with the internally displaced people from Manipur by constructing prefabricated homes if the need arises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chief Minister added that their greatest desire is that peace returns to Myanmar and Bangladesh. He added that the Centre continues its efforts towards this end so that the people return to their native places. Experts earlier noted that Manipur violence will affect the polls in Mizoram. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
CM Zoramthanga further asserted that the MNF’s efforts to integrate Zo tribes will reap electoral benefits for the party. He expressed that people fleeing from Myanmar, Bangladesh and Manipur feel safe in Mizoram which is ruled by his party. Expressing confidence, Zoramthanga said that his Mizo National Front (MNF) will win the polls due to several factors including the implementation of various development projects despite financial constraints and failure of the rival parties to put up good candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, ZPM working president K Sapdanga said that CM Zoramthanga is showing his dream of coming back to power. However, he will not come again and it seems from the movement of the people that the same government will not come again because the anti-incumbency wave is high at this time, K Sapdanga added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The counting of the votes will take place on December 3, 2023. Reportedly, in the 2018 Mizoram Assembly Elections, the MNF emerged victorious with a vote share of 37.8 per cent, defeating the decade-long Congress government. In addition, the ZPM, a regional party came second in the 2018 polls, bagging eight seats and is seen by many as the main contender to the ruling party. On the other hand, the Congress managed to secure five seats in the 2018 assembly polls, while the BJP won one, marking its first seat in the northeastern state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
