He hosted a party at 10 Downing Street celebrating the Hindu festival of Diwali. He was joined by his wife Akshata Murthy and members of the Hindu community at Downing Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UK Prime Minister\u2019s office took to X(formerly Twitter) and wrote tonight Prime Minister Rishi Sunak welcomed guests from the Hindu community to Downing Street ahead of Diwali which is festival of triumph of light over darkness. Pictures of the celebration showed Downing street was lit with colourful lights and diyas. Diwali is the festival of lights which celebrates the victory of light over darkness. Diwali is going to be celebrated on November 12. Sunak has roots in Punjab. He frequently visits the Southampton Temple. He said that is how he has been and this is who he truly was. He recollected he had just celebrated Rakshabandhan and had Rakhis from his cousin and his sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>US Vice President Kamala Harris also celebrated Diwali at her residence. At the celebration she told the guests it is important to celebrate the festival of lights as the whole world is facing a dark and a difficult moment due to the Israel-Hamas war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harris is of Indian origin and celebrated Diwali on Tuesday. She said she is celebrating Diwali at a time when a lot is happening in the world.
