Eight former Navy officer were condemned to death last month after being captured in August of last year for reasons that are still unknown. India has filed an appeal with Qatar over their execution. The eight former Navy commanders, who were employed for Dahra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services when they were detained, included decorated veterans who had previously commanded significant Indian vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dahra is a private company that offers the military forces of Qatar training and related services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of the sailors, according to sources, were engaged on a classified project involving stealth submarines built with Italian technology. According to media sources, they have been charged with spying on behalf of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Navtej Singh Gill, Birendra Kumar Verma, and Saurabh Vasisht, all captains, as well as Amit Nagpal, Purnendu Tiwari, Sugunakar Pakala, and Sanjeev Gupta, retired with the rank of commander\u2014are among those who have been sentenced.
