Mumbai Police have arrested a man for making threatening calls to the Mumbai Police Control Room on Tuesday. The man claimed to be associated with Dawood Ibrahim gang. The man arrested said the Dawood gang had instructed him to chart out a plan for the assassination of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The caller had also threatened to target JJ hospital which is a prominent medical institution in Mumbai. Mumbai police have registered a case under Section 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which deals with statements promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between different regional castes, language, racial or religious groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In October, Mumbai police received a mail in which the sender threatened to assassinate PM Modi and blow up the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He tried to blackmail the Indian government saying if they failed to pay Rs 500 crore and asked for the release of the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The mail said no matter how much security PM Modi and Yogi Adityanath had they would not be able to stay secure from them. The email mentioned that the Mumbai police should contact them on that email only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man claimed that he had already deployed people to carry out the assassination. According to reports the threat mail was first sent to National Investigation Agency (NIA) and it originated in Europe. Mumbai police was alerted by the fedral agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a similar incident in August, the Kerala police arrested a man who wrote a letter which threatened a suicide attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two day visit state to the state of Kerala. In another incident, a case has already been registered against Khalistani Leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun who had allegedly threatened to attack the world cup matches.
