In the month of December, both public and private sector banks will remain closed for an additional 11 days on account of certain holidays in line with the Reserve Bank of India\u2019s calendar. Most of the banks will remain shut for a total of 18 days in December, including second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nonetheless, these holidays will not be uniformly applied across the country and may vary from region to region as the same holidays will be observed nationwide as public holidays while others will be treated as local holidays. As per reports, the Reserve Bank of India categorises bank holidays into three categories namely holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real time gross settlement holidays and banks closing of accounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Internet banking services and ATMs will remain operational throughout the country on all days. The RBI guidelines state that both public sector banks and private sector banks do not work on Sundays and on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. In addition, the banks also remain closed on public holidays, including regional holidays which are decided by the state governments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
