The BCCI has chosen to retire MS Dhoni’s No. 7 jersey after Sachin Tendulkar’s No 10. Taken in a different context, no other Indian cricketer will ever receive jersey number seven. A cricketer can usually select his favourite jersey number prior to making his India debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BCCI reportedly told the young Indian players that they can no longer seek the No. 7 jersey, despite the fact that they are permitted to choose any number between 1 to 100 as per ICC rules. In 2017, Tendulkar’s No. 10 was removed from the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current Indian squad team\u00a0and the younger players have been instructed not to wear MS Dhoni’s Number 7 jersey. In recognition of Dhoni’s contribution to the game, the BCCI has chosen to retire his T-shirt. No. 7\u00a0cannot be obtained by a new player, while Number 10\u00a0was previously taken off the list of available numbers, according to a senior BCCI official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three and a half years after Dhoni hung up his boots in August 2020, the decision has been taken. But against New Zealand in Manchester, England, during the 2019 World Cup semi-final, he made his final appearance in India’s No. 7 jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
