The Aam Aadmi Party has appointed its MP Raghav Chadha as the leader of the party in Rajya Sabha in place of Sanjay Singh. In a letter to the Rajya Sabha chairman, the AAP party leadership has said that in the absence of Sanjay Singh, who has health issues, Raghav Chadha will henceforth be the party\u2019s leader in the upper house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The letter is with the RS Secretary General for implementation. Chadha is one of the youngest members of Rajya Sabha. The AAP has a total of 10 MPs in the upper house currently. The AAP has the fourth largest strength in Rajya Sabha after the BJP, the Congress and the TMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chadha had been reinstated as an MP on December 4 after his suspension on August 11 during the monsoon session based on complaints about breach of privilege. The MP was accused of not obtaining the consent of five Rajya Sabha MPs before including their name in a select committee. Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankar had revoked the suspension of AAP MP Raghav Chadha by the motion passed by BJP MP GVL Narsimha Rao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AAP MP Sanjay Singh is behind the bars in the Delhi liquour policy case. He was arrested on October 4 this year, becoming the third AAP leader to be imprisoned in the case, after former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and the party\u2019s communiocations in charge Vijay Nair. The anti- money laundering agency has alleged that an accused businessman Dinesh Arora gave Rs 2 crore in cash at the Rajya Sabha MP\u2019s residence in two tranches.
