\u00a0A total of 78 MPs, including both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, were suspended today for staging protests in demand of a statement by Union Minister Amit Shah on the security breach in Parliament last week. 14 MPs had been suspended last week, also demanding a statement on the security breach. So, this takes the total number of MPs suspended in this session to 92. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three -K Jayakumar, Vijay Vasanth and Abdul Khaleque had climbed on the Speaker\u2019s podium to raise slogans. After being named by the Chair, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi moved a motion regarding the suspension and it was adopted by a voice note The Rajya Sabha passed the J&K Reorganisation (Second Ammendment) Bill, 2023 and Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill amid uproar by the Opposition MPs over the Lok Sabha security breach issue. The two bills seek to enable greater representation and participation of women as public representatives in law-making processes in the legislative assemblies of Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
