The Union Health Ministry on Sunday stated that India witnessed a single-day rise of 656 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours. The active caseload increased to 3,742 from 3,420 the previous day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kerala recorded the maximum number of 126 active cases in a single day, followed by Karnataka (96), Maharashtra (35), Delhi (16), Telangana (11) and Gujarat (10). Furthermore, one death in Kerala was reported in the past 24 hours, pushing the nationwide death toll to 5,33,333. As per the ministry, the case fatality rate was pegged at 1.18 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Saturday, nearly 333 people recuperated from Covid-19 , taking the total number of recoveries to 4.44 crore (4,44,71,545). The nationwide recovery rate stood at 98.81 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry. Reportedly, the country’s Covid-19 case tally is 4.50 crore (4,50,08,620). Meanwhile, 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country, the Health Ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Saturday, India witnessed 752 Covid-19 infections, the highest since May 21 and four deaths. The active cases crossed 3000-mark, the previous day. On December 22, the country recorded 640 fresh Covid-19 infections and one death. The active caseload increased to 2,997 from 2,669 on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commenting on the rise in Covid-19 cases, the central government has said the current spike in the cases was not a cause for concern and urged people not to panic. Nonetheless, the Centre has advised people having comorbidities to wear face masks as a precautionary measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
