APN News Editor-in-chief and Managing Editor Rajshri Rai has shared her journey from being a reporter to a channel owner on Akashvani Podcast, Nai Soch Nai Kahani, hosted by Union Minister Smriti Irani. She along with other female personalities was invited to the show by the Union Minister. The theme for the program was women in media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here are some excerpts from Rajshri Rai and Smriti Irani\u2019s conversation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Smriti Irani: You began your career as a reporter and eventually became a channel owner. What are some of the difficulties you have faced in this journey?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rajshri Rai: Firstly, I am happy that you are doing this show not only as a minister but also as a journalist. You have done journalism and you have reached here after that journey. I started my journalism career as a print journalist. Following that, I joined TV and today I have established my own channel. It was a long journey and there were many difficulties in it, mostly because I am a woman entrepreneur. Elsewhere, similar institutions are operated by men. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Smriti Irani: What was your experience as a channel owner in the investor\u2019s market?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rajshri Rai: Initially, investors were doubtful but things changed with time. As the picture of the country changed, so did the channel. Our channel began in 2014. It is a polito-legal channel which shows not only political but also legal news. We work in two ways. Apart from providing news, we also provide legal help to the people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Smriti Irani: Does journalism get tarnished while providing legal aid to people?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rajshri Rai: No because the aim of journalism is to emerge as the voice of the last people. The government also has to explain where its role is. Journalism acts as a lens that shows problems to those whose work is to see and solve those problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Union Minister Smriti Irani hosts Nai Soch Nai Kahani for All India Radio highlighting the success of women in various fields including entrepreneurship, skill development, sports, health and finance.
