The wrestler kept the two awards lying in the middle of New Delhi&#8217;s Kartavya Path after the Delhi Police stopped her from reaching the prime minister&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vinesh Phogat, an Asian Games gold medallist grappler on Tuesday decided to return her Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award to the government, mentioning that such honours have become meaningless at a time when wrestlers are struggling to get justice. The wrestler had announced her decision in a letter to PM Modi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharing the video of Vinesh Phogat returning her awards, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi expressed that for every daughter of the country, self-respect comes first and any other medal or honor comes after that. He added that today, the price of political gains received from a proclaimed Bahubali (apparently referring to PM Modi) exceeds the tears of the brave daughters. Vinesh Phogat, along with Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, had protested against the election of Sanjay Singh, a close aide of Brij Bhushan.
