The childhood house of terrorist Dawood Ibrahim and three other properties in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, will go up for auction on Friday. According to Times of India, all four of the properties are agricultural and situated in Mumbake village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA) was invoked by the authorities to take the properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On January 5, the auction will take place in Mumbai. Eleven properties owned by Dawood or his family have gone up for auction during the last nine years. comprising a guest home that brought in Rs 3.52 crore, six apartments that sold for Rs 3.53 crore, and a restaurant that brought in Rs 4.53 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before relocating to Mumbai in 1983, Dawood Ibrahim, a major suspect in the 1993 Mumbai serial explosions, had resided in the Mumbake hamlet. Following the spate of bombings that claimed 257 lives, he departed India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A series of bomb bombings that shook Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay) on March 12, 1993, left over 700 people injured, 257 people dead, and around Rs 27 crore worth of property destroyed. The Maharashtra government requested that the investigation be turned over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 16, 2017, several defendants, including Mustafa Dossa and Abu Salem, were found guilty in the case. Dawood Ibrahim, a wanted terrorist, is said to have planned the assaults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 1980s, Dawood was the resident of this home. The family had lived in this house before, but they moved out after one of his four sisters drowned in a nearby stream. After Ibrahim Kaskar, Dawood’s father, was hired by the Mumbai police department, Dawood and his family stopped visiting this house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two of Dawood Ibrahim’s homes were previously purchased by Srivastava. He is a member of the Shiv Sena.
