Sixteen student wings of the INDIA bloc protested in New Delhi at Jantar Mantar, demanding withdrawal of the National Education Policy (NEP). The student unions have also called for a protest in Chennai on Feb 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The student organisations have alleged privatisation and commercialisation of education which snatches scholarships from the students belonging to minority communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the media report, the SFI leader and JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh, funds spent by the government are not sufficient. Government schools are closing, colleges are in bad shape, and the academic condition is worsening, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Student Union President further said that the pandemic has brought the worst conditions for students, and it has decreased financial assistance. This protest is against the anti-student policies of India, the SFI leader further added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The alliance consists of various student wings, including the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), All India Students’ Association (AISA), All India Students’ Federation (AISF), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), the student wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and other tribal and Dravidian student political parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A group of student organisations have formed the United Students of India to protest against the National Education Policy of 2020. Around 16 student groups have called for these mega protests to oppose the revised policy in New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Various college and university students joined a protest, holding their respective outfits’ flags and some with the Tricolour. Initially, the United Students of India planned a march towards Parliament, but the venue for the protest was later shifted to Jantar Mantar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A statement released by the United Students of India stated that the current BJP-led union government is dangerously scaling up its attack on quality education in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
