The anti-pollution panel, Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on January 14, imposed restrictions under GRAP 3 on all non-essential construction and movement of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles in the Delhi-NCR region again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The order came after the air quality in Delhi-NCR dropped to severe again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to weather officials, as the minimum temperature dropped to 3.5 degrees Celsius in Delhi, it continued to be under severe cold conditions. This winter’s lowest and a thick layer of fog was seen in several parts of the city, the officials further said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAQM Sub-Committee decided to invoke an 8-point action plan as per Stage-III of GRAP in the entire NCR with immediate effect, to prevent further deterioration of air quality in the region, said the panel in an official order. GRAP Stage-III restrictions include closing down operations of stone crushers, closing down all mining and associated activities in the NCR, and a strict ban on construction and demolition activities in the entire NCR (except certain categories of projects), the statement further reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The panel also said that the NCR State governments\/GNCTD will impose strict restrictions on plying of BS III petrol and BS IV diesel LMVs (4 wheelers) in Delhi and in the districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar. State governments in NCR and GNCTD may decide on discontinuing physical classes in schools for children up to Class V and conducting classes in an online mode, the anti-pollution panel added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to an official, bad weather caused the diversion of nine flights, including an international flight, from the Delhi airport to Jaipur between 4:30 am and 10:30 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An official stated that an international flight which was initially diverted to Mumbai due to bad weather was later re-routed to Jaipur. On Sunday, Delhi and other parts of North India were shrouded by a thick layer of fog, with visibility levels dropping to zero meters at several locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
