The external minister was speaking at a townhall meeting in Nagpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaishankar further said that what we are trying to do, and with a lot of success in the last 10 years, is to build a very strong connect. He also underlined the efforts of India for the last 10 years, to build strong relations with different countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The external minister said that politics may go up and down but the people of that nation generally have good feelings for India and they understand the importance of having good relations. India\u2019s involvement in infrastructure development in other countries, he further added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Lakshadweep vs Maldives| \u201cPolitics is politics\u2026\u201d S Jaishankar breaks silence on India-Maldives row\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SY9cyqBeyj0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We are involved today in building roads, electricity, transmission, supplying fuel, providing trade access, making investments, and having people holiday in other countries, Jaishankar said, adding that, all these are parts of how you develop those relationships, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, things do not go in a good way, and then you have to reason with people to bring things back to where they should be, Jaishankar further added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, derogatory comments posted by three deputy ministers of the Maldivian government against Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s post on Lakshadweep had sparked a controversy between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu asked India to withdraw its military personnel from its country by March 15. According to reports, there are 88 military personnel in the Maldives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The public policy secretary at the Maldivian President\u2019s office, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, said that the island nation has formally asked India to withdraw its military personnel by March 15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maldives and India had set up a high-level core group to negotiate the withdrawal of troops.
