After spotting deepfake videos of himself, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar few days back shared the video and asked people to report it, as it was a fake video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mumbai Cyber Police on Thursday registered a case against the culprit, who made the fake video of Tendulkar that went viral on social media platforms a few days back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cricket legend on Monday took to X and shared a video. He said these videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Tendulkar requested everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. He shared his concerns over these videos and said social media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. He further said that swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A video, that went viral on social media platforms showcased a legendary cricketer promoting an app called Skyward Aviator Quest and even claiming that his daughter Sara Tendulkar is earning good money by playing on this application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fake video depicts Sachin Tendulkar casually sitting and promoting the app, but a close look at the video reveals that it is fake and needs to be reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In November 2023, amid increasing concerns and outrage over a series of deepfake videos on social media, Union Minister of Electronics and Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar while addressing the press conference, said that the Centre will appoint an officer to check such content. He said that an officer will be entrusted to ensure action against deepfake content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Union Minister further said that social media platforms have been given seven days time to align their terms of use, as per the IT rules.
