Assam Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra for reportedly deviating from the approved route in Jorhat town.

According to reports, the yatra was approved for KB Road route but it violated the rules and took the march towards an unauthorized direction, causing a chaotic situation in the region.

Due to that, a stampede-like situation arose and some people were felt down since people rushed to the yatra. According to an official, the authority took cognisance of the matter and a suo-moto FIR was registered against the Yatra and its chief organizer at Jorhat Sadar Police Station.

The Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi slammed the Assam CM Himanta and called him the most corrupt CM in the country. Taking to X, Gandhi said the Chief Minister of Assam is the most corrupt CM of India, whose only work is to loot public money under the guise of hatred.

CM Himanta on Thursday stated that if Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra violates the state government’s guidelines then strict action will be taken.

While addressing the media, Assam CM Himnta said that two persons in the planning team of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam intentionally violated the guidelines. They are planning to pass the rally through Guwahati, even though BJP does not conduct its rallies through the capital city as it will create problems, Himanta added. If Congress forces to take the rally through Guwahati we will not stop them, instead, we will file a case, the Assam CM further added.

On registering an FIR against Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra reaches Assam’s Majuli. No rules have been broken, he said. Assam CM is making all attempts to stop people from joining the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra, Ramesh added. No one can stop this yatra. We are in Assam for the next 7 days. Let them arrest us, we accept the challenge, Congress leader further added.
