President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi sent their best wishes to Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their Statehood Day today, January 21. However, the prime minister has not yet visited the state that was shaken by conflict between ethnic groups between the Kuki and Meitei groups last year. Remarkably, reports of violent incidents and ensuing fatalities continue to come from Manipur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
January 21 marks Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura’s Statehood Day. For the three states that became states by virtue of the North Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act of 1971, this year marks their 52nd foundation year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking to social media site X, formerly Twitter, PM Modi wished the people of Manipur on their Statehood and wrote, Manipur has significantly aided India’s development. \u201cWe are proud of the state’s culture and tradition.\u201d He also said, he prays from Manipur development to remain continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Along with wishing Meghalaya a happy Statehood Day, PM Modi also tweeted that it was an opportunity to celebrate the incredible culture of the northeastern state as well as the accomplishments of its people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prime minister alluded Tripura, which is also commemorating its Statehood Day, for its unique history and rich heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Murmu also extended her best wishes to all three states and taking to X, she wrote, These states hold significant cultural legacies and are specially endowed with the abundance of nature. They are making progress towards prosperity, peace, and advancement. “I send my warmest regards to the people of Meghalaya, Tripura, and Manipur\u201d, President Murmu said on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, on Saturday Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the government will entirely fence off the India-Myanmar border and stop allowing people to travel freely there, in order to make it as secure as the nation’s border with Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
