For the third day in a row, thick fog covered Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR), severely restricting visibility and affecting flight, train and road services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Flight delays resulted from the national capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) recording at least zero visibility at night, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to the heavy fog, the Delhi airport issued a passenger advisory at night, stating that flights that are not CAT III compliant may be impacted even if landings and takeoffs are still occurring there. If passengers need any update on flight information, they should get in touch with the relevant airline. We truly regret any inconvenience this may have caused, the statement continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A notable feature of the CAT III instrument is its anti-fog landing system, which helps in landing the flight in reduced visibility. It permits landing in as little as 50 metres of sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The heavy fog also caused delays for a number of trains that were heading out of or into the national capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similar circumstances were observed in the national capital on Tuesday, affecting multiple flights as well as 19 trains headed for Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to a western disturbance in the Himalayan region, the meteorological department has forecast light rainfall in the nation’s capital. IMD predicts that Delhi will see light rain on Wednesday and Thursday for two days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IMD reported light rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds towards evening or night and dense to very dense fog in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delhi’s lowest temperature was 10 degrees Celsius, while the highest temperature is probably going to reach 19 degrees on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the IMD, there was dense to extremely dense fog throughout Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan in addition to Delhi-NCR. There were isolated cold days in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh.
