Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday promised two crore of houses in the next five years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) to fulfil the requirements amid rising in the number of families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presenting the interim Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha, the Finance Minister said despite the challenges due to COVID, implementation of PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) continued and we are close to achieving the target of three crore houses. She added two crore more houses will be taken up in the next five years to meet the requirement arising from increase in the number of families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Finance Minister mentioned the Viksit Bharat vision. She said many growth and development-enabling reforms are needed in the state to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat. \u00a0She further said that a provision of Rs 75,000 Crores as a 50-year interest-free loan is proposed this year to support those milestone-linked reforms by the state governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our government plans to set up more medical colleges by utilising the existing hospital infrastructure under various departments, she added. A committee for this purpose will be set up to examine the issues and make relevant recommendations, the FM further added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the interim Budget 2024, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that it was one of the shortest speeches on record in the Budget. He added not very much came out of it, as usual a lot of rhetorical language, and very little concrete on implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tharoor further said that she talked about foreign investment without acknowledging that that investment has come down significantly. She talked about a number of things which are couched in vague languages like confidence and hope and so on, Tharoor added, but when it comes to hard figures, very few figures are available. This is going to be a very disappointing speech in terms of being couched entirely in generalities and without enough substance nor any willingness to address the specific problems of the economy, the Congress MP Tharoor said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
