Amid a series of departures from the Congress, Rahul Gandhi has said that leaders who are like Himanta Biswa Sarma and Milind Deora should part ways with the party, as they do not align with its ideology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Himanta Biswa Sarma, who joined the BJP in 2014 is now the chief minister of Assam, while Deora joined the Shiv Sena headed by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde last month. He said he did not want to be associated with them, as there are certain values he would like to defend. The resignation of former Union Minister and ex-MP from Mumbai South, Milind Deora is the latest instance of leaders exiting the Congress to embark on new political journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh parted ways with the Congress and joined BJP before the assembly elections in 2022. Other Notable leaders who left the Congress in recent years include RPN Singh, Sushmita Dev, Hardik Patel, Priyanka Chaturvedi, former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, Jitin Prasada and Jyotiraditya Scindia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gandhi commented on recent assertion by BJP leaders regarding the citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). He said these are instruments for the BJP. He said their basic idea is to divide the country and create tension among religious communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gandhi\u2019s comments come after Union Minister Shantanu Thakur declared on January 29 that the CAA would be enforced all over India within a week.
