Looking at the situation, a second round of high-level committee meetings, set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has been called to address the demands of the people of Ladakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first round of talks was held on December 4 last year. The high-level meeting, chaired by Minister of State Home Nityanand Rai discussed important measures to protect its diversity and ensure jobs for the locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MHA has scheduled the second round of talks for February 19. There are eight government members out of the 15-member committee. Notable participants consist of Lieutenant Governor Brigadier B D Mishra (Retd), Ladakh BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, chairpersons from the Autonomous Hill Development Councils of Kargil and Leh, and officials from the MHA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to the national news agency, the legal advisor of ABL and KDA Haji Ghulam Mustafa said ever since Ladakh has turned into UT, the two socio-political organisations which are ABL and KDA have had four demands. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The legal advisor to the socio-political organisation brought attention to the UT\u2019s power and its representative&#8217;s presence in the assembly. He explained how things have changed since Ladakh split from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mustafa said all powers which were people-centric have weakened. When Ladakh was part of J&amp;K, they had 4 members in the assembly and 2 in the legislative council. Now they have no representation in the assembly, he pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ladakh is a tribal majority area and has all the features north-eastern states have, he added. Ever since Ladakh became a UT, there have been no gazetted job openings in the region, while in J&amp;K two batches have already been commissioned and the third batch is going to get commissioned soon, he further added.
