Batting at No 3 position as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings. The right handed batsman remained unbeaten at lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gill scored his half century in 60 balls, with a boundary through long-off which also took the Indian lead past 250 in the morning session of the play. Gill had been struggling at the number 3 slot since the West Indies series in 2023. He said Gill knows if he fails a couple of times, his career, for the moment, could be on the line. He said everybody could see his reluctance. Former England batsman slammed Gill for his timid approach. He had come to bat early on in the innings due to the dismissal of Rohit Sharma. Gill survived 2 LBW calls. The first time, Gill inside edged the ball into the pads and the umpire\u2019s decision was reversed. Shubman Gill shook the close calls off and continued his innings.
