During the second Test match between India and England in Vizag, R Ashwin created history by becoming the team’s highest wicket-taker against England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashwin surpassed former India spinner BS Chandrasekhar to achieve the massive feat during England\u2019s second innings of the 2nd Test match. The series consists of five matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashwin was just two wickets away of breaking Chandrasekhar’s record into the Test match. But having lost all of his wickets in the opening innings, he was unable to go beyond him. The off-spinner, who had already dismissed Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, came back among the wickets in the second innings for the opposing team and achieved the incredible milestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the eleventh over of England’s innings, Duckett was removed from the match by Ashwin, who then trapped the first batsman in LBW. Then, he succeeded in getting Pope to hit an edge of his bat, and Rohit made an incisive reflex catch at slips to secure his second wicket and reach the elusive milestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, Chandrasekhar, held a record of taking 95 wickets in 23 Test matches against England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, when it comes to taking wickets in Test matches between India and England, Ashwin is currently ranked second. At the top of the list is James Anderson, who claimed three wickets in the first innings of the Test match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 41-year-old has taken 144 wickets at an economy rate of 2.69 in 36 Test matches, including six five-wicket hauls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
