Pakistan poll body has ordered re-election in various places of polling stations across the country as Imran Khan\u2019s party \u00a0Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) alleged rigging in the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to hold re-election came after several complaints regarding the snatching and damaging of voting materials at various polling places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECP (Election Commission of Pakistan) in its response to the various complaints, asked the local bodies to postpone voting processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECP has scheduled the re-election at various polling stations on February 15. Results will be announced after the completion of the re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The people of Pakistan voted on February 8 in a general election, as the country struggles to recover from an economic crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Independent candidates supported by imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan have won the largest number of seats. The party aims to form a government, and the President will invite them as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gohar Ali Khan, who is the chairman of PTI and also acts as Imran Khan’s lawyer, stated that every institution in Pakistan should respect the people’s mandate. He claimed that the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, would invite his party to form the government, and Imran Khan, who is currently in prison, would decide the next Prime Minister of the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, he mentioned that if the election results were not released by Saturday night, peaceful protests would be staged outside returning officer’s offices on Sunday. These details were reported by local media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the independent candidates supported by PTI have caused an upset by winning more than 100 seats, which is well above the 72 seats won by Sharif’s PML-N. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the son of the late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, has secured 54 seats, mainly in its stronghold Sindh. The ECP has stated that other smaller parties have won a total of 27 seats, and their involvement could be significant in the formation of a coalition government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
