{"id":501970,"date":"2024-02-15T14:07:14","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T08:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=501970"},"modified":"2024-02-15T14:10:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-15T08:40:11","slug":"congress-electoral-bonds-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/congress-electoral-bonds-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Congress says SC verdict on electoral bonds will reinforce power of votes over notes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Congress Communications head Jairam Ramesh on Thursday said that the Supreme Court verdict on electoral bonds will reinforce the power of votes over notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcoming the long-awaited verdict by the apex court, the Congress leader said the SC struck down the much-touted electoral bonds scheme of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government as it violates both laws passed by Parliament as well as the Constitution of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further hoped that the top court would take note of the political parties\u2019 concerns on &nbsp;Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs). He also said that the country needed a wave of change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a unanimous verdict, the constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y.
