Furthermore, the IT asked for Rs 210 crore recovery from the Youth Congress and the Congress party. The crowdfunding money in the party\u2019s accounts has been frozen, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asserting that, the Congres leader said that freezing the Opposition\u2019s accounts barely two weeks before elections is equivalent to freezing democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hitting at the Modi-led central government, Maken said for the first time in the history of India, accounts of the principal Opposition party have been frozen by the tax authorities on flimsy grounds, barely two weeks before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha on Friday appealed to the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Court in Delhi after his party\u2019s bank accounts were frozen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2066\u2066<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/INCIndia?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@INCIndia<\/a>\u2069 can operate its accounts with a lien of the IT Dept thereon !!
