In Bihar\u2019s Nawgachhia, a group of angry people on Sunday allegedly attacked police personnel and journalist following the recovery of the body of woman nearly two days after she went missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, the angry mob set fire to a police vehicle and assaulted journalists who were on the scene to report the news. Two journalists were harmed severely in the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to local reports, the situation escalated rapidly when villagers, upon discovering that the body of Shobha Devi, the daughter of Kamleshwari Mandal, had been found, accused the police of inaction. Devi had been missing since February 16 after she left home to deliver milk in Dakshinbadi Tola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite her family’s desperate pleas, it seemed that no one listened until it was too late. The mob’s grief and anger reached its breaking point, causing them to set police vehicles ablaze and physically assault officers and journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The surrounding was charged with unease as the police, who were outnumbered and under attack, had to resort to firing shots in the air to control the chaotic mob and restore order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The injured were rushed to primary health centers and referral hospitals, highlighting the physical toll of the day’s events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior police officials arrived at the scene and managed to calm the situation down. According to a statement by the police, an investigation has been initiated, and individuals have been questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police further said that they have been camping in the area until the situation returns to normalcy. Police have been trying to recover the body of the woman. Local SDO and DSP were deployed for the task in that matter, the SP Nawgachhia, Puran Kumar Jha, said while speaking with the media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another incident from Bihar, three officers on-duty including a woman inspector were attacked by mob during an inspection to check the illegal sand mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
