{"id":502595,"date":"2024-02-22T12:41:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T07:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=502595"},"modified":"2024-02-22T13:02:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T07:32:18","slug":"satya-pal-malik-cbi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/satya-pal-malik-cbi\/","title":{"rendered":"CBI searches 30 premises of former J&amp;K Governor Satya Pal Malik in corruption case"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday carried out searches at 30 locations linked to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik in a corruption case linked to the Kiru Hydropower Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Early in the morning, the probe agency started its operation with around 100 officers mobilised to swoop down at the 30 premises in different locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to officials, the case has been related to corruption in awarding civil works of the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project (HEP) worth Rs 2,200 crore. In April 2022, the CBI registered a case against five individuals, including Malik, in relation to suspected irregularities in the awarding of contracts for the projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malik, who served as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 23, 2018, to October 30, 2019, claimed that he was offered a sum of Rs 300 crore in bribes for clearing two files, including one pertaining to the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to the allegations, Satya Pal Malik, who has been admitted to the hospital for the past few days, stated, that despite his illness, his residence is being raided by authoritarian forces. These actions won&#8217;t deter him, Malik added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBI has filed a case against the former chairman of the Chenab Valley Power Projects (P) Ltd, Navin Kumar Chaudhary, along with other former officials, M.S. Babu, M.K. Mittal, and Arun Kumar Mishra, as well as Patel Engineering Ltd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the FIR, even though a decision was made during the 47th Board meeting of CVPPPL to retender through e-tendering with a reverse auction after the cancellation of the ongoing tendering process, the decision was not implemented as per the decision taken in the 48th Board meeting, and the tender was finally awarded to Patel Engineering Ltd.
