{"id":50390,"date":"2018-10-08T18:07:03","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T12:37:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=50390"},"modified":"2018-10-08T18:08:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-08T12:38:10","slug":"rafale-deal-another-petition-filed-in-supreme-court-to-be-heard-on-october-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/rafale-deal-another-petition-filed-in-supreme-court-to-be-heard-on-october-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Rafale deal: Another petition filed in Supreme Court, to be heard on  October 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fresh petition on India\u2019s deal with France for purchase of Rafale fighter jet was filed in the Supreme Court today (Monday, October 8).<\/p>\n<p>The PIL, filed by lawyer Vineet Dhanda, will be heard on Wednesday, October 10, said a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and KM Joseph.<\/p>\n<p>Dhanda is seeking a direction to the Centre to reveal details of the deal and the comparative prices during the UPA and NDA rule in a sealed cover to the apex court.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner has also sought information about the contract given to<a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/anil-ambani\"> Anil Ambani<\/a>\u2019s Reliance Defence by Dassault Aviation.<\/p>\n<p>Advocate ML Sharma\u2019s plea, filed earlier, alleging discrepancies in the fighter jet deal with France and seeking a stay on it will also come up for hearing on October 10 along with Dhanda\u2019s petition.<\/p>\n<p>Sharma claimed in his plea that the inter-government agreement to buy 36 <a href=\"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/topic\/rafale-deal\">Rafale fighter jets<\/a> must be quashed as it was an \u201coutcome of corruption\u201d and not ratified by Parliament under Article 253 (Parliament has power to make any law for implementing any inter-government agreement) of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>It may be recalled that a similar plea was filed in the apex court in March this year seeking an independent probe into the Rafale deal and disclosure of the cost involved in the deal before Parliament. That plea, filed by Congress worker TehseenPoonawalla, had sought a direction against the Centre on why the Union Cabinet\u2019s approval was not sought as part of the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) before signing the procurement deal with France on September 23, 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fresh petition on India\u2019s deal with France for purchase of Rafale fighter jet was filed in the Supreme Court today (Monday, October 8).
