It\u2019s a new responsibility to work for the country, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Murty comes from an extremely humble background and is married to Infosys founder Narayana Murty. UK PM Rishi Sunak is her son-in-law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Murty, 73, was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006. She has also been conferred with the R K Narayan Award for Literature, the Attimabbe Award from the government of Karnataka for excellence in Kannada literature, and the Lifetime Achievement by Crossword Book Award in 2018. Last year, she was awarded with the Padma Bhushan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, a controversy sparked after she said that one of her major worries was the prospect of using the same spoon for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes because she is a strict vegetarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an episode of the YouTube series Khaane Mein Kaun Hai, author and philanthropist Murty admitted to being experimental in her career, she wasn\u2019t as adventurous in her eating habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The author also said that she is adventurous at work, not in the kitchen. Murty acknowledged that she is truly quite afraid, and she doesn\u2019t even eat eggs or garlic. She was troubled by the idea of cross-contamination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Shiggaon, Karnataka, Sudha Murty was born on August 19, 1950.
