{"id":504084,"date":"2024-03-08T17:36:16","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T12:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=504084"},"modified":"2024-03-08T19:14:13","modified_gmt":"2024-03-08T13:44:13","slug":"tmc-modi-lpg-price","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/politics\/tmc-modi-lpg-price\/","title":{"rendered":"Trinamool Congress slams PM Modi over LPG price cut, says height of political cynicism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Trinamool Congress on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his announcement of a cut in LPG prices by Rs 100 per cylinder and called it a height of political cynicism ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ruling party in the State has also dubbed it as a token cut and a cheap political stunt weeks before general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking to X, PM Modi on Friday announced that the price of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders will be cut by Rs 100 to benefit nearly 33 crore poor households on the occasion of International Women\u2019s Day. All this time, all these years, women consumers were labouring under the burden of high LPG prices, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TMC MP Saket Gokhale also slammed the Modi government and claimed that Modi\u2019s \u2018Nari Shakti\u2019 is limited to election campaigning. It doesn\u2019t matter to Modi how women of India survive under sky-high LPG prices all year unless he gets to have an event and a PR opportunity, said in a post on X. That\u2019s the only time he remembers that women exist, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attacking the Modi government, the NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule called it a \u2018Jumla&#8217; and questioned the timing of the announcement and also highlighted the duration of BJP&#8217;s tenure in power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to the media, Sule said that she was not surprised at all. Check out the timing. BJP has been in power for the past nine years, she reminded. Why didn&#8217;t they think of it earlier, she asked. Just when will the election be announced, this is another Jumla, she termed. In her government, the cylinder cost Rs 430.
