The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared Rishabh Pant fully fit for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The board announced this news today via a press release. Pant had started practicing ahead of the new IPL season, and has now been given the nod to join the Delhi Capitals camp, as per official release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The National Cricket Academy recommended a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation program for the 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter after he sustained several injuries in a near-fatal vehicle accident in December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although Pant was declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming TATA IPL 2024, according to the board’s release, it is unclear if he will initially don the keeping gloves for the Delhi Capitals, who he is also expected to lead, succeeding David Warner, who filled in for Pant’s absence the previous season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the first time since the two-Test series against and in Bangladesh at the end of 2022, just before his accident while traveling to his hometown of Roorkee in the early hours of December 30, Pant will play in the IPL in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, BCCI also annouced that the fast bowlers Mohammad Shami and Prasidh Krishna are rulled out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BCCI said Prasidh Krishna is ineligible for the competition due to a recent surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. The 28-year-old will miss the entire 2018\u201319 season for the Rajasthan Royals due to a spinal stress fracture, which sidelined him last season. Before being ruled out of the Ranji Trophy in the early going, Krishna had only recently recovered from that serious injury and had even made his Test debut on the tour to South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just before the current season, the Royals acquired Avesh Khan from the Lucknow Super Giants in exchange for hitter Devdutt Padikkal, giving them another option for quick bowling in India.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
