Retired IAS officers Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu were chosen for the two vacant posts in the top panel of Election Commission of India on Thursday. Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was part of the panel headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which selected two Election Commissioners to assist Chief Election Commissioners Rajiv Kumar as the election body prepares for the Lok Sabha election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides PM Modi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also part of the panel. Chowdhury slammed the Modi government over the law that replaced the chief justice of India by a Union Minister on the selection committee. He said the Chief Justice of India should have been present on the panel. Chowdhury added the law had reduced the meeting to a formality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
