Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was part of the panel headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which selected two Election Commissioners to assist Chief Election Commissioners Rajiv Kumar as the election body prepares for the Lok Sabha election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides PM Modi and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also part of the panel. Chowdhury slammed the Modi government over the law that replaced the chief justice of India by a Union Minister on the selection committee. He said the Chief Justice of India should have been present on the panel. The Congress leader said he was given 212 names to examine. He said it was humanly not possible for him to examine so many candidates in a single day and find out the most competent candidate. The Congress leader referred to Arun Goel\u2019s resignation and said he came with lightning speed and left with digital speed. His statement has sparked a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Kumar and Sandhu are retired IAS officers of the 1988 batch. Sandhu is of the Uttarakhand cadre of IAS and Kumar is from the Kerala cadre. Sandhu has held key government positions which include National Highway Authority of India and Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand.
