The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the reserve day for the final and semi-finals in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC also confirmed the implementation of the stop clock rule for white-ball cricket in both T20Is and ODIs from the 2024 T20 World Cup onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its announcement, the cricket body dictated the conditions for the global tournament in the USA and West Indies, which is scheduled to be played in June 2024. It has also emphasised on the stop clock rule to become a permanent feature in white-ball cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICC said that the stop-clock is set to become permanent in all ODIs and T20Is from June 2024, kicking off with the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.\u00a0Results presented to the Chief Executives\u2019 Committee (CEC) demonstrated that approximately 20 minutes had been saved per ODI match, the cricket body added. The feature has now been added as a mandatory playing condition in all Full Member ODI and T20I matches from 1 June 2024, ICC said during the announcement of a reserve day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also emphasised on reserve day in the semifinals and final of the upcoming T20 World Cup. It was also confirmed during the meetings that ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup 2024 would have reserve days scheduled for the semi-finals and final, the body said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cricket body said that the team batting second will need to bat for at least five overs for a game to be continued till the required over number for the chasing side goes up to 10 overs in the semifinals and the final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICC stated that a minimum of five overs will need to be bowled to the team batting second to comprise a game in the group stages and the Super Eight stages. However, in the knockout matches, a minimum of 10 overs need to be bowled in the second innings to constitute a match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cricket board also approved the qualification process for the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup 2026. The event, which will be held in India and Srilanka, will see 12 automatic qualifiers<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
