Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not respond to a summons from the Enforcement Directorate about a money laundering investigation related to purported anomalies in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). According to sources, the Aam Aadmi Party has referred to the ED summons as illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to provide his statement in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the Enforcement Directorate has requested that Arvind Kejriwal appear in person at its office on APJ Abdul Kalam Road on March 18.
Arvind Kejriwal had earlier received a summons from the AAP, which also made references to a political conspiracy. Called a backup plan, the party intended to prevent him from running for office in the Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The specifics of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) case is still unknown to everyone. According to Delhi minister Atishi, this appears to be a contingency plan to arrest Kejriwal in any case and prevent him from running for office in the Lok Sabha elections on Sunday, during a press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inquiries into Arvind Kejriwal are also ongoing in the money laundering issue involving the Delhi excise policy. In that case, he has already rejected eight summonses, calling them illegitimate. In that case, ED has called him to appear for questioning on March 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation agency in the DJB case has asserted that money acquired via corruption in a contract granted by the department of the Delhi government was purportedly transferred to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as election money.
As part of this investigation, the ED raided the homes of several people in February, including Kejriwal’s personal assistant, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, a former DJB member, and a chartered accountant.
