Hours before joining the BJP, Sita Soren announced her resignation from the JMM, citing of being neglected and isolated in the state&#8217;s ruling party.<br><br>At the BJP&#8217;s headquarters in New Delhi, Sita Soren joined the party in the presence of party\u2019s national general secretary Vinod Tawde, and Jharkhand poll in-charge Laxmikant Bajpai.<br><br>The three-term MLA&#8217;s decision to join the BJP is encouraging for the party&#8217;s attempts to strengthen ties with the scheduled tribes, the JMM&#8217;s main vote base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WATCH?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WATCH<\/a> | Delhi: Former JMM MLA and sister-in-law of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren- Sita Soren joins BJP. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HiG9Nlsm8I\">pic.twitter.com\/HiG9Nlsm8I<\/a><\/p>&mdash; ANI (@ANI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ANI\/status\/1770011053352722511?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 19, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sita Soren wrote her resignation letter to the party supremo and her father-in-law Shibu Soren, in which she expressed her grief and said the JMM had not given her and her family enough assistance after her husband Durga Soren passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reluctantly, Sita Soren announced her resignation from the party&#8217;s primary membership, saying that she felt abandoned.<br><br>She expressed her dismay as well, pointing out that the party has deviated from its tenets by accepting individuals whose beliefs conflict with its ethos. &nbsp;Sita said she has learned that her family and she are the targets of a conspiracy. The former JMM MLA said, she had no choice except to submit her resignation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JMM\u2019s spokesman Supriyo Bhattacharyya acknowledged hearing about the resignation when he was contacted for comment, but he said he had not yet received the formal letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, following her first election as an MLA in 2009 from the Jama Assembly constituency, Sita climbed to the position of national general secretary within the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She contested for the Jama assembly seat again in 2014 and registered her victory.
