A statement issued by President\u2019s office in Kabul on Saturday said that President Ashraf Ghani\u00a0 met\u00a0with\u00a0the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad who briefed him on his visit\u00a0to regional countries,\u00a0and said the\u00a0US is ready to help Afghanistan with the peace process. Afghanistan\u2019s Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish and CEO Abdullah Abdullah were also present during the meeting.<\/p>\n Welcoming US envoy\u2019s efforts President Ghani thanked Khalilzad for his briefing and\u00a0for\u00a0his efforts\u00a0saying \u201cwe welcome\u00a0any efforts to bring lasting peace in Afghanistan.\u201d<\/p>\n On Friday, Khalilzad met with\u00a0Qatar\u2019s\u00a0Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha.<\/p>\n Khalilzad\u00a0was in Kabul last Sunday as part of his regional consultations. He returned from his four-nation tour to\u00a0Kabul\u00a0on Saturday.<\/p>\n Read More: Syrian Militants Secretly Flown To Afghanistan, China Raises a Battalion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n At the end of Khalilzad\u2019s initial meetings in Kabul last Sunday, the US Embassy in Kabul said in a statement\u00a0after Khalilzad met with President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah\u00a0Abdullah, as well as representatives of different political groups, civil society organizations including the High Peace Council, and Afghan media.<\/p>\n During his meetings with all stake holders, Khalilzad had reportedly asked for cooperation from all sides to bring an end to the conflict and called on the parties to facilitate dialogue by forming inclusive negotiating teams.\u00a0 Khalilzad recalled the sacrifices of the Afghan people over many years of war, saying, \u201cWe, in cooperation with the Afghan people and government, want to make a peaceful Afghanistan where all Afghans see themselves included.\u201d<\/p>\n In June 2013, the Taliban officially opened their office in Qatar, but became bone of contention on the office sign and the flag. This was known as \u201cThe Political Bureau of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan\u201d along with white flag.
