Ruturaj Gaikwad has been announced as the new captain of the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Releasing an official statement, CSK said, MS Dhoni has handed over Chennai Super Kings\u2019 captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of IPL 2024. Ruturaj has been a crucial part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in IPL during this period. After making his CSK debut in 2020, Gaikwad, who has played six ODIs and 19 T20s for India, went on to play 52 matches for the five-time IPL champions. Last year, the right-handed opener smashed 590 runs at an amazing strike rate of 147.50 in 16 matches, making it an unforgettable run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most inspirational journey in sports history has been led by Dhoni. He started off as a ticket collector at a train station before becoming India&#8217;s greatest trophy collector and captaining the squad to the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the exception of a 2016\u20132017 stint with Rising Pune Supergiant, the right-handed batsman has participated in 250 IPL games, primarily for CSK. He has scored 5,082 runs at an average of 38.79 in the sematches. In the cash-rich league, he has also smashed 24 half-centuries.
