[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to lay the foundation stone in Kartarpur Sahib for the corridor linking Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, with Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, on November 28. Two Union ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri, too, will attend the ceremony in Narowal, around 120 km from Lahore. Navjot Singh Sidhu has already reached Pakistan to be part of the grand ceremony.

But the main question on everyone’s mind is—will this move by Khan prove beneficial for India? Some politicians have also raised questions over Sidhu’s visit to Pakistan.

To get the answers to these questions, APN, in its popular debate show, Mudda, hosted a discussion among external affairs specialist Dr Shuvra Kamal Dutta, Colonel Danveer Singh (retired), BJP leader Dinesh Singh, Rajendra Singh Baggha (Lucknow Gurudwara Committee chairman), Shiromani Akali Dal national spokesperson Parminder Pal Singh and journalist Govind Pant Raju, anchored by Anant Tyagi.

Starting the discussion with Dinesh Singh, Anant asked him how BJP has taken it. Singh responded, “The BJP appreciates this decision of Imran Khan and wishes for the betterment of India’s relationship with Pakistan. This is going to be a special gift to the Sikh community.”

Moving on to Parminder Pal Singh, Anant enquired about his party’s opinion about the issue. Was SAD willing to take the credit of this outcome? “We praise this initiative of the Pakistan government and also hope that the decision may improve the relationship between India and Pakistan. As far as credit is concerned, it is known to everybody how the Akali Dal worked to get the Kartarpur corridor cleared,” he said.

“Is it right to give credit to Shiromani Akali Dal for Kartarpur corridor clearance?’ Tyagi asked of Raju. Raju replied, “Not exactly, but the way the Congress behaved on this issue was equally shameful, as it’s a matter of two countries and their relationship with each other. At such a moment it’s somehow in bad taste to discuss internal issues.”

When Baggha was asked to react to the issue, he said, “It’s a gift to the people of the Sikh community.” Regarding Pakistan’s intentions, he said he was not completely sure they were harmless.

Then after, Anant asked Colonel Danveer Singh what he feels about this and how he takes it as a security point of view? To which he replied “As it is understood from the Kartarpur Corridor clearance that now the Indian Sikh Pilgrims can travel to Gurudwara darbar Shahib without any visa but it this doesn’t guarantee any security and it is still suspicious about the Pakistan’s agenda behind this. Kartarpur Corridor clearance doesn’t means that Pakistan has started loving Sikhs but they are doing it for a hidden agenda and nobody knows it.”

Dutt then narrated a mythological story and concluded that “Pakistan is being Janus-faced and is trying to win the trust of India” by dint of this corridor. “The Punjab CM has taken a good initiative by accepting Imran’s invitation to the Kartarpur corridor ceremony and sending two Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri to Pakistan to attend it. But India needs to be careful later on,” he said.

Raju said, “Sidhu’s behaviour is unpleasant. Before heading to Pakistan, he said he will meet Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh but didn’t do so. The Punjab CM has said that it’s Sidhu’s personal visit and he will not comment.”

It has come to public knowledge that party leaders are not happy with Sidhu’s frequent visits to Pakistan. It is also clear that India will have to tread carefully in the future.
