CCTV footage showed that the leopard left the mall premises around 5:30 am today.<\/p>\n
A search operation was initiated after the leopard was seen moving towards the Vasant Vihar residential area.<\/p>\n
After searching the adjacent areas, the forest department officials managed to trace the leopard to the basement of the nearby Hotel Satkar Residency at Cadbury Junction in Thane.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe leopard which was spotted moving towards the Vasant Vihar residential area in Thane was trapped by forest department in the basement of Satkar hotel. The leopard entered from the hotel\u2019s rear entrance and was spotted by a member of the hotel\u2019s security team,\u201d said a police official from Vartak Nagar police station.<\/p>\n
The security officials informed the police who arrived and cordoned off the area. Following the same, forest officials then laid a trap around the basement.<\/p>\n
Gurudev Singh, 45, who works at the hotel as a driver, said he had spotted the leopard entering the hotel\u2019s rear side.<\/p>\n
\u201cI spotted the leopard entering from the backside of the hotel, which opens on the road towards Korum mall. The leopard came running from the backside of the hotel, and ran into basement,\u201d Singh said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe forest team that carried out the nearly 5-hour-long operation managed to catch it around 11:30 am after tranquilising it,\u201d informed a police official.<\/p>\n
