Pawar said that he has decided not to contest Lok Sabha polls after a detailed discussion within the family. Announcing his decision in Pune, Pawar said \u201cAfter holding talks with family, we were of the opinion that next generation members should be given a chance. There is demand from various party leaders and workers for Parth Pawar\u2019s candidature from Maval\u201d.<\/p>\n
Parth, the grandnephew of the NCP chief is son of the NCP leader Ajit Pawar, nephew of Sharad Pawar.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Parth in an interview with Hindustan Times had expressed his desire of contesting from Maval. The young leader had said \u201cIf the party gives me a ticket, I would like to contest the polls from Maval. The simple reason behind this decision is that people and party workers from Pimpri-Chinchwad feel that this region will also be developed like Baramati, where Ajitdada (my father) worked.\u201d<\/p>\n
Parth, 28, has been actively participating in various social as well as political programmes in Pimpri-Chinchwad. In 2014, Shiv Sena\u2019s Shrirang Barne won the Lok Sabha polls from Maval by a margin of at least 1.70 lakh votes with the NCP\u2019s Rahul Narwekar at the third position.<\/p>\n
