The incident came to light on Thursday, August 29, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, shared a video of the girl&#8217;s family alleging that the girl was kidnapped and forcefully converted. The video showed the girl\u2019s forcible conversion and her being renamed as \u2018Ayesha.\u2019 A local maulvi reportedly arranged her marriage with the Muslim man. This incident has drawn the attention of Sikhs worldwide and they have demanded Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan to take strict action against those responsible for this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also asked Imran Khan and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take action. \u201cShocking incident of a Sikh girl being kidnapped &amp; forced to convert to Islam.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Religion is a personal matter and forcible conversion of this kind has no place in any society,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Union Minister<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, &#8220;To what level can they stoop, it is absolutely shocking and shameful and Imran Khan must immediately take action and ensure the protection of minorities and walk his talk about having respect for Sikhs and Guru Nanak Dev ji.
