[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Delhi Police arrested a man, his wife and mother for allegedly being involved in illegal sale of liquor and narcotics and attacking a cop, an official said on Wednesday, September 11.<\/span><\/p>\n

The accused have been identified as Sumit (28), Pinky (27) and Shanti Devi (50), police said.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a senior police official, on Tuesday at around 1 p.m. when a constable Amit was patrolling in Prem Nagar area he spotted an absent \u2018Bad Character\u2019 and also a bootlegger Sumit.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cConstable had also received tip-off regarding the illicit liquor being sold in the area. Sumit along with his wife and mother are involved in trade of illicit liquor and when the constable reached there they allegedly attacked on him,\u201d said the senior police official.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSumit along with his wife and his mother snatched mobile phone of constable. The accused even tore constable Amit\u2019s uniform and they even tried to snatch his service revolver also,\u201d the senior official added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They tried to snatch his service pistol but the constable managed to save it and escaped to save himself, the police added.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a video of the incident doing the rounds on social media, a policeman was seen being thrashed by two women when he was trying to get a hold on a man. There were many onlookers to the incident but no one intervened to pacify or save the constable, a senior police officer said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Police have registered a case under section 186, 353, 332, 392,393, 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Prem Nagar police station. Police have arrested all the three accused,” said the senior police official adding that further investigation is going on.<\/span><\/p>\n

The officer added that Sumit is a repeat offender and several FIRs have been registered against him at Prem Nagar police station for bootlegging and selling narcotic items.<\/span><\/p>\n

The accused was asked by police to visit Prem Nagar police station for questioning in a case but he was evading it. The constable went to visit his house to look for him.<\/span><\/p>\n

The constable held Sumit and was getting him to the police station when he was attacked by his wife and mother.
