{"id":67499,"date":"2019-09-12T14:33:23","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T09:03:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=67499"},"modified":"2019-09-12T18:46:29","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T13:16:29","slug":"high-court-seeks-du-response-rejected-nominations-dusu-poll-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/india-news\/high-court-seeks-du-response-rejected-nominations-dusu-poll-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"High Court seeks DU response on rejected nominations for DUSU poll 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Delhi High Court on Wednesday, September 11, sought response of Delhi University on a plea by three students of the Students\u2019 Federation of India (SFI), claiming that they were illegally restrained from filing their nominations for Delhi University Students\u2019 Union (DUSU) polls, according to media reports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The DUSU goes to the polls today, September 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva also issued notices to Delhi University\u2019s Chief Election Officer (CEO) and Station House Officer of Maurice Nagar police station on the petition and listed it for hearing on October 17.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The High Court also said the elections will be subject to the outcome of the petition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three DU students namely Ravi Kumar Chauhan, Noel Benny and Parmanand Sharma filed a petition alleging that on September 4, on their way to submit their nomination papers to the office of the CEO, they were allegedly \u201cprevented by suspected members of ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad)\u201d from doing so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">September 4 was the last date to file the nominations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the three students was overpowered by the miscreants and his papers were snatched, the plea said, adding that when they again tried to submit the nomination papers, they were illegally obstructed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plea claimed that despite deployment of heavy police force, the officials did not do anything to save them and stood as mere spectators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The petitioners sought direction to declare them being prevented from submitting their nomination papers illegal. They also sought that non-acceptance of their nominations by the office of CEO be declared as unfair and illegal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They demanded disciplinary action against the persons who prevented them from submitting their nomination papers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are over 1.30 lakh voters who will cast their votes at 52 polling centres.
