This appointment has been made soon after President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Madras High Court Chief Justice VK Tahilramani.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her resignation has been accepted with effect from September 6, according to a government notification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She had resigned after the Supreme Court collegium declined her request for reconsideration of transfer to Meghalaya.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Justice Vineet Kothari, the number of Madras High Court judges has increased to 61 as against the sanctioned strength of 75 judges.
