Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali today stirred a row with his remark on the murder of a 26-year-old woman veterinary doctor in Hyderabad. Speaking to the media, the minister said, “It was unfortunate that the woman had called her sister and not the emergency response number 100.”<\/p>\n
The woman while on her way to a skin clinic had parked her bike near the Shamshabad toll plaza, before taking a cab to Gachibowli on Wednesday evening. When she returned to the spot around 9:30 pm to get her bike, she noticed that her bike tire was deflated. A lorry driver, who is the prime accused in the case according to the police, offered to help her.<\/p>\n
Despite her refusal when the driver insisted on helping her, she called her sister and told her she was scared. When her sister asked her to stand near the toll plaza, she told her she wasn’t comfortable doing that.<\/p>\n
Later, when her family tried to contact her, her phone was switched off. A police complaint was filed soon after.<\/p>\n
The next morning the police received a call from a farmer who informed them about a burnt body near an underpass. The family identified her vehicle, the remains of her clothes.<\/p>\n
After analysing the recordings of her phone calls and scanning the CCTV footage of the area, the police picked up two suspects \u2014 a lorry driver and a cleaner, both from Anantapur.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the woman’s family alleged police insensitivity in handling the case prompting the National Commission for Women (NCW) to constitute an inquiry panel to look into the killing of the doctor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
