He will also be attending the parliament tomorrow,&#8221; Karti told reporters.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Phew. The Congress leader also cannot make any public statements, or give any interviews to the media and\u00a0has to be present whenever he is called for questioning, the court said.<\/p>\n<p>Senior lawyers Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi said in the court that there was neither any evidence linking Chidambaram with the alleged offence nor any material to show he had influenced witnesses or tampered with any evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The Congress tweeted: &#8220;Truth finally prevails. #SatyamevaJayate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But justice delayed is justice denied. This should have been granted much earlier. Dismissing charges of political vendetta, he told a news agency, &#8220;We have never been vindictive. On the other hand when Chidambaram ji was the Home Minister, he filed false cases against me, he also filed false cases against Modi ji and Amit Shah ji. Later, we all were proved innocent.<\/p>\n<p>His colleague and BJP leader Sambit Patra called it a &#8220;classic case&#8221; of @INCIndia \u201ccelebrating corruption\u201d and quipped that Chidambaram has joined the &#8220;OOBC (Out On Bail Club)&#8221; of the Congress.&#8221;<code><\/code><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">So finally Chidambaram too joins the long list of \u201cOOBC(Out On Bail Club)\u201d in the Congress ..He joins the coveted Club,some members of which are:<br \/>\n1)Sonia Gandhi<br \/>\n2)Rahul Gandhi<br \/>\n3)Robert Vadra<br \/>\n4)Motilal Vohra<br \/>\n5)Bhupinder Hooda<br \/>\n6)Sashi Tharoor<br \/>\nEtc Etc <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VPVxcqzv4H\">https:\/\/t.co\/VPVxcqzv4H<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sambit Patra (@sambitswaraj) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sambitswaraj\/status\/1202095417585999872?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Karti was quick to retort, &#8220;If they have the evidence, they must take it to the court and put it before us and not hide behind the sealed cover tactic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The veteran Congress leader was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 21 in the INX Media money laundering case\u00a0and was granted bail by the Supreme Court on October 22.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was immediately arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case on October 16 and has been in judicial custody till November 27.<\/p>\n<p>After the Delhi High Court denied him bail on November 15, the 74-year-old approached the top court where\u00a0the ED had opposed his bail plea claiming he used the \u201cinfluential office\u201d of finance minister for \u201cpersonal gains\u201d and laundered proceeds of crime to conceal \u201ctainted money\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ED also claimed that Chidambaram is a \u201cvery intelligent and influential man\u201d and there is\u00a0\u201csufficient evidence on record\u201d that he has been \u201cindulging in destruction of evidence\u201d and \u201cinfluencing the witnesses\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Chidambaram argued that the probe agency cannot &#8220;destroy&#8221; his reputation by making baseless allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Questioning the High Court&#8217;s decision to deny him bail, he had said, &#8220;the high court denies me bail saying that releasing me will send a wrong signal, as if I am some Ranga-Billa,&#8221;
